$970,750 Three-Year Commitment to Global Village Project

The Chestnut Family Foundation has made a three-year commitment of $970,750 to Global Village Project (GVP) in support of their Social & Emotional Learning (SEL) and Wellness program. The gift will allow GVP to sustain the current scope of their program, as well as fund the expansion of SEL programs beginning in spring 2026 when they relocate to their new campus. The gift will provide resources for additional staff to deliver student counseling and SEL instruction, as well as the recruitment of supplementary social work expertise to the school.

The Global Village Project is a nationally recognized, three-year accelerated, special-purpose middle school for refugee girls in Decatur, GA. The school currently serves around 45 students annually at no cost to the students. GVP is the only school in the U.S. dedicated to meeting the unique educational needs of recently resettled refugee young women and preparing them for high school and beyond.

We're proud to continue our partnership with Global Village Project and the incredible work they are doing to serve the young refugee women community!

$828,700 Three-Year Commitment to LaAmistad

The Chestnut Family Foundation has made a three-year commitment of $828,700 to LaAmistad in support of the organization’s continued growth. As part of their Strategic Plan, LaAmistad recently launched several new programs to expand its services for the Latino community. Birth to 5 and the Alumni programs will grow and complement LaAmistad’s support of Atlanta’s Latino families.

Additionally, the Chestnut Family Foundation donated $10,000 to LaAmistad’s Summer Academy “Animate,” where students from all over Metro Atlanta were provided educational reinforcement, as well as physical and artistic enrichment. During Animate, LaAmistad delivered over 3,200 nutritious meals and snacks to the students.

LaAmistad’s mission is to prepare Latino students and families for success through academic and life enrichment programs.

We are proud of the work LaAmistad does to support Atlanta’s Latino families and are excited to help expand their impact.
