$250,000 Two-Year Commitment to Save the Music Foundation

The Chestnut Family Foundation has made a two-year commitment of $250,000 to Save the Music Foundation (STM). The commitment will continue to provide support to STM’s “Atlanta Music Saves” project and will help jump-start new music programs in 22 additional qualifying schools in the Metro Atlanta area.

STM’s mission is to help students, schools, and communities reach their full potential through the power of making music. They are seeking to establish music as a universal offering in U.S. public K-12 schools through the development of robust and sustainable regional projects in collaboration with local organizations and educators.

We are delighted to continue our partnership with Save the Music!

$500,000 Gift to Fight Abuse In The Home (F.A.I.T.H.) Capital Campaign

The Chestnut Family Foundation has donated $500,000 to F.A.I.T.H.’s Future Capital Campaign which is a key part of their strategic plans for future growth and sustainability. The Campaign funding will enable F.A.I.T.H to provide a welcoming, comfortable, and supportive environment for individuals who have experienced child abuse and sexual assault, and the support needed to seek justice and embark on a healing journey from the trauma. Specific areas to be funded include a state-of-the-art facility to extend F.A.I.T.H.’S reach and impact; enhancement of infrastructure to better serve the needs of the community; and investments in innovative support programs.

F.A.I.T.H. advocates, empowers, prevents, and protects the victims of abuse and violence in Northeast Georgia. They have been providing free and confidential services to the community since 1993, speaking with people each and every day who are experiencing, or are affected by abuse. F.A.I.T.H. helps children, women, men, and families cope with the impact of violence and abuse in their lives by providing safe resources, information, and much needed support.

We are grateful for the opportunity to support the very meaningful and much-needed work of F.A.I.T.H.

$2,000,000 Commitment to Global Village Project for New Village 100 Capital Campaign

The Chestnut Family Foundation has committed $2,000,000 to Global Village Project’s New Village 100 capital campaign. The campaign, which launched earlier this year, will enable GVP to move to their new home and more than double their current capacity to 100 students.

In October 2023, GVP purchased a new property not far from their current school. The new campus features three buildings with 26,600 square feet of space that sits on 3.2 acres of land in a quiet residential neighborhood. The campus will have 12 large classrooms, a STEAM classroom, a teachers’ lounge, a volunteer lounge, ample office space for school counselors and nurses, and more.

The Global Village Project is a nationally recognized, three-year accelerated, special-purpose middle school for refugee girls in Decatur, GA. The school currently serves around 45 students annually at no cost to the students. GVP is the only school in the U.S. dedicated to meeting the unique educational needs of recently resettled refugee young women and preparing them for high school and beyond.

We're proud to continue our partnership with Global Village Project and the incredible work they are doing to serve the young refugee women community!

$500,000 Three-Year Commitment to City of Refuge

The Chestnut Family Foundation has made a three-year commitment of $500,000 to City of Refuge in support of their youth development programs. The gift will help provide children aged 6 weeks through high school with a safe, supportive environment to access positive educational opportunities. City of Refuge’s programming provides individualized, age-appropriate support to improve academics, health, and social-emotional behaviors. The programs benefitting from CFF’s gift include:

  • City Kids full-day preschool, filled with consistent love and positive influences that help prepare children ages six weeks to 5 years old for success in school and life;

  • City Kids afterschool and summer camp, where elementary students create meaningful relationships, build self-esteem, and stay on track in school;

  • City Youth afterschool and summer camp empowering middle and high school students to make healthy choices for school and career success;

  • City School, enabling students in grades 3-12 to benefit from a high-quality education with small classes sizes and dual enrollment options to prepare youth for life after high school. COR plans to add K-2 so the school will serve K-12 by 2026.

  • The J17 Fund, offering scholarships for post-secondary pursuits that support the transition to a self-sufficient lifestyle.

City of Refuge was founded in 1997 to provide food and shelter for those in tremendous need on Atlanta’s Westside. Their renovated warehouse, the size of a city block, in the heart of zip code 30314 serves as a center “Where Good Works,” connecting some of Atlanta’s most vulnerable citizens to all the services they need to move from crisis to dignity and independence.

We're proud to continue our partnership with City or Refuge and the incredible work they are doing to serve our community!
