$225,000 Gift to the Georgia Hi-Lo Trail in Support of the Kids Bike League Program

The Chestnut Family Foundation has awarded a second grant to the Georgia Hi-Lo Trail in support of the Kids Bike League program. This $225,000 grant will be spread over two years and will enable the Georgia Hi-Lo team to build on their successful summer program in 2022. The 2023 summer camps took place in Sparta, Sandersville, Twin City, Pineora and Statesboro and were attended by children ranging in age from 2nd to 8th grade, with many of these children being in foster care. In addition to the summer camps, the Georgia Hi-Lo Trail will begin serving middle school students in Sandersville this fall, with a Kids Bike League pilot program during PE class.

The Kids Bike League uses mountain biking as a tool to develop confidence and curiosity amongst children. The program emphasizes teaching participants to be stewards of the land by creating new mountain biking trails in their communities.
