$150,649 Gift to City of Refuge

The Chestnut Family Foundation is delighted to support the continued expansion of The City School at City of Refuge with a gift of $150,649. This funding will help meet two critical needs that directly impact student success: the acquisition of two new mid-sized school buses and the establishment of a dedicated school nurse position. As The City School continues to grow, investments in student transportation and health services are essential to ensuring every child has access to a safe, supportive, and enriching educational experience.

Reliable transportation is a cornerstone of The City School’s mission. The school provides daily pick-up and drop-off services for many students, while also using buses to connect students to field trips and extended learning opportunities beyond the classroom. With one of the school’s existing buses recently deemed beyond repair and enrollment continuing to increase, the need for additional transportation has become immediate. The Foundation’s support will help fund the purchase of two mid-sized buses, a critical investment that will allow the school to better serve students and families while keeping pace with growth.

The gift will also support the addition of a dedicated school nurse, including salary funding and resources for student care and medical supplies. As the student population expands, access to on-site health services becomes increasingly important for promoting student well-being, responding to health needs, and helping students remain engaged in learning.

The Chestnut Family Foundation is honored to partner with City of Refuge in this important next chapter and remains committed to supporting programs that create meaningful opportunities for children and families in our community.
